Literary Event at the Japan Foundation

February 12th, 2025, 6:30-8:00 live streamed on the Japan Foundation Toronto's YouTube channel. I'll be interviewing award-winning author Rio Shimamoto about her latest novel, First Love, a psychological thriller. 

OLA Super Conference

January 30th, 2025, 10:30-11:30 at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. At the Ontario Librarians Association Super Conference, I'll be signing copies of Sisters of the Spruce at the Literary Press Group of Canada's booth.

BookFest Windsor

October 19th, 2024, 2:00-3:00 on Zoom. In a panel with fellow authors Renee Bondy and Daniel Allen Cox, I'll be reading from and discussing Sisters of the Spruce. Details can be found on BookFest Windsor's website.

Diaspora Dialogues Literary Salon

September 10th, 2024, 5:30-7:00 at the Women's Art Association of Canada (23 Prince Arthur Avenue, Toronto).  At this Alumni Celebration open to the public, I'll be reading from Sisters of the Spruce alongside graphic novelist Christina Wong and playwright Akosua Amo-Adem, and then we will be interviewed by Diaspora Dialogues' president, Helen Walsh. 

Eden Mills Writers' Festival

The Way Forward panel on September 8th, 2024, 4:30-5:30 in Eden Mills, ON. I'll be reading from Sisters of the Spruce, alongside novelists Edward Y.C. Lee and Barbara Joan Scott, on this historical fiction panel moderated by Ann Y.K. Choi.

Japanese-Canadian Literature Book Club

August 26th, 2024, 2:00 PM, on Zoom. I'll be answering  questions about my first novel, After the Bloom, in a discussion moderated by Art Miki.

Powell Street Festival

A Reading and Conversation with Leslie Shimotakahara about Sisters of the Spruce, on August 4th, 2024, 3:30-4:00 at Vancouver Japanese Language School (487 Alexander Street, Vancouver, BC). Following my reading from Sisters of the Spruce, I'll be interviewed by fellow novelist Emi Sasagawa.  

Komorebi JC Vancouver Island Book Club

July 27th, 2024, 12:30-2:00 PM (EDT), on Zoom. I'll be joining to answer club members' questions about Sisters of the Spruce and engage in discussion.

Book Launch for SISTERS OF THE SPRUCE

April 4th, 2024, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Ben McNally Books (108 Queen Street East, Toronto). Author reading at 6:30, followed by a book signing and refreshments. Warm thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts and The Writers' Union of Canada for including this event in their National Public Readings Program.

Reading at Fleming College Toronto

February 2nd, 2024, 11:00-2:00 PM, at Fleming College Toronto (124 Eglinton Ave West). I'll be reading from Sisters of the Spruce and giving a talk about my journey to becoming a writer, as part of a panel of authors.
